32. International theatre festival PUF
In 2026, the International Theatre Festival PUF will continue to promote contemporary, socially
engaged, progressive and research-oriented theatre in Pula and Istria, with a particular emphasis on
interdisciplinarity, experimentation, multimedia approaches and hybridity. The programme will
address current individual and/or socio-political issues, bring together diverse theatrical poetics and
aesthetics, explore new tendencies and developmental paths, and promote Croatian artists, with
special attention given to young creatives.
PUF is conceived as a place of encounter and communication, as well as an exchange of knowledge,
experience and contacts among performers, audiences, theatre professionals, critics and journalists.
Community and interculturality are expressed through a fruitful dialogue of intellectual, cultural and
life experiences.
The 32nd PUF will take place from 1–5 July 2026, featuring approximately ten performances
(contemporary dance, non-verbal and physical theatre, multimedia performances, and
performances from Croatia and abroad). Traditionally, the festival will be opened by the
international site-specific theatre co-production Anno Domini 2026 (directed by Daniel Passi de
Moraes, Brazil).
