WORLD MUSIC DAY PULA 2026

“Music as the Food of Love”

Programme

From 9:30 AM, the World Music Day celebration in Pula will begin in Smareglia Street, next to the bust of Ivan Matetić Ronjgov (in the garden of the former music school), with the performance “Mantinjada sprid Ronjgova”, organised by the Pula Branch of the Croatian Musicians' Union (HGU Branch 5 Pula), with the support of the Croatian Musicians' Union (HGU), HDS ZAMP and the Pula Tourist Board.

From 9:45 AM, beneath the century-old hackberry trees in the shade of Pula’s Giardini, young and talented musician Roko Vlačić will give a short presentation on traditional Istrian folk music, accompanied by demonstrations of traditional instruments including the roženice, mih, šurle and vidalice. This will be followed by performances by the acoustic duo Whiskey Train and the well-known Pula instrumental trio SOUR. The World Music Day programme at Giardini will conclude with Spiral of Time, a project by singer-songwriter Jasmina Petrović and Amar Amarni, an artist of Berber heritage, who invite audiences on an inner journey that transcends the boundaries of genre, language and place.

From 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the promenade route along Prvomajska Street, through the Forum and Kandlerova Street, and from Endrigo Park and Giardini to the Golden Gate, will be animated by the fantastic Pula street performer Cile – One Man Band, as well as the energetic and experienced musicians of Škico Acoustic Band, who know exactly how to entertain passers-by.

As is now tradition on the summer solstice, beginning at 8:30 PM, at the unique seaside location of Sveta Stijena, where sea and sun meet, Bojana Cetina will present a Sound Bath, featuring an abundance of meditative sounds from ambient percussion instruments. With this event, the World Music Day celebration in Pula will officially conclude in the peace and tranquillity of the sunset.
