Vedran Štimac Exhibition: Weekend Recreation

Makina Gallery, Pula
27 June 2026, 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, 27 June 2026, at 8:30 p.m., Makina Gallery in Pula will open "Weekend Recreation", a solo exhibition by illustrator, muralist and visual artist Vedran Štimac.

Conceived as a one-off pop-up exhibition, it will be open to the public only during the weekend of 27–28 June. Through a new series of works, the artist explores the weekend as a distinct period within contemporary life—a space removed from work, daily obligations and social roles, but also one imbued with nostalgia, melancholy and the search for one's own sense of presence.

The exhibition is dedicated to the artist's recently deceased friend, theatre director Branko Sušac. Their friendship began at Dr. Inat Theatre in Pula and continued through years of conversations, collaborations and shared experiences. The exhibition also serves as a tribute to a person whose work, energy and presence left a profound mark on Pula's cultural life and on all who knew him.

As a two-day exhibition that can only be experienced over a single weekend, Weekend Recreation reflects on transience, presence and the importance of shared moments, which we often come to appreciate only once they have become memories.

Music will be provided by Vedran Pušić (207) and Marino Morosin (Rinoma).

The exhibition was first presented on 29 May at Super Klet Studio Gallery in Zagreb and this marks the second presentation of Vedran Štimac's new series of oil paintings on canvas.
