Art Panoptikum XLVIII

Art Panoptikum, a programme dedicated to the presentation of international visual art, will take place for the sixty-eighth time on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. at Gradska Radionica in Pula. This edition will be devoted to exhibitions currently on view in Venice.

The first topic will present the exhibition “Still Joy – From Ukraine into the World”, on view at Palazzo Contarini Polignac until August 1. This group exhibition brings together Ukrainian and international artists who explore what it means to find joy in times of hardship and conflict.

The next presentation focuses on the exhibition “Transforming Energy”, marking the 80th birthday of Marina Abramović, on view at the Gallerie dell’Accademia until October 19.

This will be followed by “Basic Failure”, an exhibition by the American-Russian artist Sanya Kantarovsky, open at Palazzo Loredan until November 22, featuring works centred on the human figure and themes of spirituality, alienation, and vulnerability.

The following topic is dedicated to the exhibition “Painting in the Present Tense” by the American artist David Salle, on view at Palazzo Cini until September 27, where he explores the use of artificial intelligence as a tool for analysing and redefining the mechanisms of painting.

Next comes a presentation of “The Visitors”, an exhibition by the American artist Hernan Bas, on view at Ca’ Pesaro until August 30 and featuring around thirty new works.

The following topic will address “The Promise of Change”, an exhibition by the British artist Michael Armitage, which can be viewed at Palazzo Grassi until January 10 of next year. Themes concerning the consequences of war, corruption, and instability in equatorial regions form the backdrop to some of his works.

Finally, the programme will present the exhibition “Do U Dare!” by the Iranian-American artist Shirin Neshat, on view at Palazzo Marin until September 6. Combining a video trilogy and photographic works, the exhibition examines the commodification of identity and the rise of authoritarianism.

Art Panoptikum is conceived and hosted by Boris Bogunović. The programme activities of Gradska Radionica are supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia and the City of Pula. Admission to all events is free.
