45 godina "Paket Aranžmana"

45th Anniversary of the Legendary Album "Paket Aranžman" to Be Celebrated at Pula Castle

The 45th anniversary of the legendary album Paket Aranžman will be celebrated at Pula's Kaštel Fortress on August 22 at 9:00 PM, featuring performances by Nevladina Organizacija Vlade Divljana (formerly VIS Idoli) and Električni Orgazam.

Paket Aranžman is a landmark compilation album released in 1981 by Jugoton (now Croatia Records). It brought together three Belgrade new wave bands—Idoli, Šarlo Akrobata, and Električni Orgazam—and is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential albums of the former Yugoslav rock scene, marking the beginning of the region's new wave movement.

At the time, it represented the most radical manifesto of a new musical aesthetic within Yugoslav rock, defining what "new wave" could mean in a distinctly local context. Even today, the stylistic breadth of the three bands remains astonishing: punk, reggae, ska, neo-psychedelia, camp, and minimalist experimentation all coexist on the record, opening up an extraordinary range of creative possibilities for the regional music scene.

The songs, performances, and attitude of Šarlo Akrobata, Idoli, and Električni Orgazam were so original that the album is still considered a turning point in Yugoslav popular music and one of the most influential records in the history of regional rock. Paket Aranžman was the first major example of artists creating authentic rock music in their own language without imitating Western performers. As such, it became the defining release of Belgrade's most celebrated new wave generation and helped spark a broader cultural revolution that permanently transformed social attitudes in the former Yugoslavia during the early 1980s. Thanks in large part to this movement, the region finally caught up with global trends in popular culture.

The accompanying exhibition brings together, for the first time, iconic photographs by four distinguished photographers who creatively documented the emergence of the scene throughout 1980 and 1981: Goranka Matić, Goran Vejvoda, Branislav "Brajan" Rašić, and Branko Gavrić, the designer of the legendary Paket Aranžman album cover. Their photographs, free of unnecessary nostalgia, immerse visitors in the atmosphere surrounding the creation of the album, capturing scenes from the streets and concert venues that evoke the free-spirited Belgrade of the era and its young musical heroes—bold twenty-year-olds full of ambition and ideas.
