Ozric Tentacles are widely regarded as one of the most influential bands to emerge from the UK festival scene. Formed during the summer solstice at the Stonehenge Free Festival in 1983, they later became regular favourites at Glastonbury and other psychedelic music festivals. Guided by the creative vision of multi-instrumentalist Ed Wynne, the band's distinctive, hypnotic sound has brought together fans of progressive rock, psychedelia and electronic dance music.

During the 1980s, Ozric Tentacles built a devoted following on the festival circuit, releasing a series of cassette recordings sold at concerts and through their fan club. Their first official label release was Pungent Effulgent (1989), which was reissued in the early 2000s together with Strangeitude. This was followed by Erpland (1990), dedicated to the fictional character Erp, who appears on many of the band's album covers, and Strangeitude (1991). The track "Sploosh!" was featured in a BMW advertising campaign, becoming the band's only commercial single. By 1993, Jurassic Shift had reached the Top 10 of the UK Albums Chart.

Over the years, the band has undergone numerous line-up changes, with Ed Wynne (guitar and keyboards) remaining its only constant member. Their richly textured sonic journeys have resulted in seventeen studio albums to date, the latest being Lotus Unfolding, released in the year of the band's 40th anniversary. Staying true to their unmistakable identity, Ozric Tentacles continue to tour internationally and produce imaginative, genre-defying music.
