Genetics and problems of evolution - prof. Tomislav Terzin
Lecture "Genetics and Problems of Evolution" – Prof. Tomislav Terzin, PhD
Let us dedicate a weekend to a deeper understanding of biological sciences and fundamental questions regarding the origin and development of life. A series of three lectures titled "Genetics and Problems of Evolution" will be held in Pula from August 21st to 23rd, presented by the distinguished scientist and professor, Prof. Tomislav Terzin, PhD.
Throughout this three-day cycle, Professor Terzin provides a detailed insight into contemporary discoveries in molecular biology and genetics, placing them within the context of classical evolutionary theories and the challenges they face.
Lecture Schedule by Day:
- Friday, August 21st at 7:00 PM – Natural Selection Does Not See Genes
The introductory lecture focuses on the mechanisms of natural selection and the limits to which this process can affect genetic structures and information themselves. - Saturday, August 22nd at 7:00 PM – How the Genetic Code Originated
The second evening is dedicated to one of the greatest mysteries of modern biology — the origin, structure, and exceptional complexity of the genetic code itself. - Sunday, August 23rd at 7:00 PM – The Theory of Evolution and Problems of Sexual Reproduction
The final lecture addresses the biological and evolutionary challenges related to the emergence and maintenance of sexual reproduction in the living world.
Location and Organization:
The lectures will take place at the organizer's premises, Adventisti Pula, located at Stube Jurine i Franine 3 in Pula.
