Mediterranean 2035: The Next Chapter

The exhibition Mediterranean 2035 brings together eleven artists whose works, spanning drawing, animation, graphic art, illustration, photography, and object-based practices, engage in a dialogue with the Mediterranean as a dynamic system in which geographical, ecological, urban, and cultural dimensions intersect.

The exhibition can be read through four interconnected layers — space, landscape, identity, and everyday life — opening up different perspectives on the near future. Urbanisation, the adaptation of public space, the pressures of tourism, and the growing strain on coastal and natural environments, alongside migration, globalisation, and socioeconomic change, are continuously reshaping spaces, landscapes, and identities. At the same time, broader social and ecological processes are becoming embedded in the rhythms of work, housing, and everyday life.

The works in the exhibition do not illustrate a predetermined concept. Instead, from their own distinct perspectives and through diverse material languages, they observe transformations that are already underway and consider their possible consequences. The future of the Mediterranean is therefore not approached as something abstract or hypothetical, but as a process already unfolding — one that is present in architecture, landscape, cultural practices, and everyday life.
