Vladimir Arsenijević - Ethics and aesthetics

Vladimir Arsenijević, one of the most prominent contemporary Serbian writers, NIN Award winner, and author of numerous novels, essays, and columns, is coming to Pula. His books, translated into more than twenty languages, have left a deep mark on the literature of the former Yugoslavia, and his writing has been strongly intertwined with the era of its creation from the very beginning.

Arsenijević is not just a writer. As a columnist, publicist, and cultural worker, he has spent decades openly addressing social and political issues, speaking critically about nationalism, wartime legacy, political landscapes, and individual responsibility toward society. His dedication is especially visible through the work of the regional literary association and festival KROKODIL, which promotes literary collaboration, dialogue, and connections between artists and audiences across the region.

The conversation, moderated by Andrea Matošević, will cover literature, as well as the experiences of the generation Arsenijević belongs to, society and politics, public engagement, the region's cultural space, and the role of literature in a time of new divisions and uncertainty.

The event is funded by the City of Pula and the state budget through the Council for National Minorities of the Republic of Croatia.
