Promotion of the music album "Stories from Istraland"

On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Portarata in Pula, the band MusiCity will officially present their album „Stories from Istraland“, or, as we might say locally, „Štorije iz Zemlje Istre“ („Stories from the Land of Istria“).

The album features instrumental compositions and represents non-commercial music whose style ranges from prog-rock to rock-jazz fusion, incorporating elements of ethnic music, primarily the traditional musical idiom of Istria. Although the music is complex, it is almost surprisingly „easy to listen to“.

In an era when jazz has become widely accepted as the dominant form of instrumental music, and although elements of jazz can also be found in MusiCity’s playing, this is ultimately music of a completely different sensibility. MusiCity have a distinctive sound that is immediately recognizable to anyone who has ever heard them perform.

Although MusiCity have already performed some of the compositions from this album on various occasions and at different concerts, this time the album will be presented in its entirety.

MusiCity will perform in the following lineup: Damir Vukelja (guitar), Samanta Stell (flute, keyboards, wind synth), Dean Vitasović (bass guitar) and Robert Rebrović (drums). This lineup forms the solid core around which the album „Stories from Istraland“ was created. All compositions and arrangements were written by the band’s founder and guitarist, Damir Vukelja.

In this lineup, MusiCity regularly perform throughout Istria and beyond, presenting a mix of covers and original compositions at their concerts. They will also be joined by special guests: Sandro Vešligaj (keyboards), Ena Pliško (violin) and Nenad Mirt (double bass, percussion).

The album „Stories from Istraland“ will take us on a journey through time and space with the following tracks: „Blues of the Ancient Romans“, „Palud“, „Parenzana Groove“, „Birds over the Sea“, „Delta Mirna Blues“, „Zdolom s Učke…doma“, „ZaraIstra mix…Tako je povida Žvan Istrijan“ and „Istraland“.

The concert will be complemented by classic crossover pieces by composers such as Strauss, Bach and Beethoven, along with a few other attractive cover versions.
