European Mobility Week
The City of Pula is once again joining the European Mobility Week, held annually from 16 to 22 September.
This year’s campaign is held under the theme “Mobility for All” and focuses on the right of every citizen to have access to safe, sustainable and accessible mobility options, regardless of age, income, place of residence, sex or ability.
This year, particular emphasis is placed on intergenerational mobility. Children, young people, adults and older people face different challenges and barriers to mobility at different stages of life. It is therefore important to develop a transport system and public spaces that meet the needs of all generations and enable everyone to move around safely, independently and with dignity.
In cooperation with city institutions, organisations, associations and other partners, the City of Pula has prepared a series of activities aimed at presenting citizens with different aspects of sustainable mobility. The programme includes activities for all generations, ranging from educational and sports activities, workshops and lectures to initiatives focused on road safety, the use of public transport, active mobility, health and environmental protection.
As part of European Mobility Week, citizens will also be able to take part in a range of activities promoting walking, cycling, public transport and other sustainable forms of mobility. The programme will also include initiatives aimed at raising awareness of the importance of a safe and accessible transport system.
One of the central events will be Car-Free Day, taking place on 22 September. From 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., private cars will not be permitted to travel along the Lungomare road, in the section between the intersection with Veruda Street and Mornar beach. Traffic will be regulated by road signs and access will be permitted only to emergency vehicles.
The aim of this initiative is to demonstrate different ways of using public space and encourage citizens to reflect on their everyday mobility choices.
European Mobility Week is also an opportunity to promote, through joint activities involving citizens, institutions, organisations and associations, the values of a healthier lifestyle, environmental protection, intergenerational solidarity and inclusion.
The City of Pula invites citizens of all generations to take part in this year’s European Mobility Week activities and, through their participation, contribute to creating a safer, healthier, more accessible and more sustainable city.
The City of Pula reserves the right to modify the programme in the event of changes in weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
All activities are free of charge. A promotional 50% discount will be available for visits to the Pula Aquarium.
