Open Day at the “Krojač Stari grad” Atelier

During the Pula Marathon, the doors of the “Krojač Stari grad” Atelier will be wide open to residents, runners and visitors who wish to step briefly into the world of Austro-Hungarian Pula in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The event has a special connection with the city’s history, as the route of one of the races follows part of the former Pula electric tram route. The tram operated from 1904 to 1934, connecting important parts of the city, the naval harbour and its suburbs.
At the entrance, visitors will be welcomed by costumed members of the Krojač Stari grad group, wearing clothing inspired by the period from 1850 to 1890. They will present the fashion, characteristic garments and accessories of the era, together with stories about notable figures who influenced fashion and social life in European cities, including Austro-Hungarian Pula.
Visitors will discover how Pula developed during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and learn about the history of its tram system and the former tram stop in Laginjina Street, near today’s Istrian National Theatre.
The programme will take place in an authentic Austro-Hungarian building in central Pula. The venue combines a traditional tailor’s shop with a historical costume atelier decorated in period style. Visitors will be able to view historical costumes, hats and accessories and discover how traditional tailoring and craftsmanship bring the city’s past to life.
The Open Day at the “Krojač Stari grad” Atelier brings together sport, cultural heritage, the history of Pula’s tram, fashion and traditional tailoring, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the city from a different historical perspective during the Pula Marathon.
