On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the first train in Pula, members of the costumed group “Krojač Stari grad” will join the celebrations with a special costumed walk through the city.

Dressed in historical costumes inspired by the fashion of the second half of the 19th century, the participants will set off from the Golden Gate (Arch of the Sergii) towards Pula Railway Station, where their arrival will add a special touch to the ceremonial welcome of the train arriving from Vienna at 6:10 p.m., as well as to the celebration of this important anniversary of Pula’s railway history.

The arrival of the railway 150 years ago marked an important moment in the development of Pula. The new transport connection brought the city closer to Vienna and other parts of the then Monarchy, while coinciding with a period of significant economic, urban and social development.

The costumed walk will symbolically connect present-day Pula with the city of the era of the first railway journeys. Historical dresses, hats, men’s suits and fashionable accessories in the city streets will briefly evoke the atmosphere of a time when travellers arrived in Pula by train.

Citizens and visitors are invited to meet the costumed group along the route from the Golden Gate to the railway station, take photographs and join in the celebration of 150 years of railways in Pula. They are also warmly invited to join the walk in their own costumes.
