PUF OFF Obred/Ritual/Rituale

Ritual is a research-based physical theatre performance that, in a noisy public space, where performances are often measured by the volume of sound, explores the power of what is barely audible. It does not seek to attract the audience through loudness, but through silence.

Through their physical presence, the geometry of movement and precisely measured silences, the performers invite spectators to join the action; engaging them more unconsciously, or rather physically, than rationally. Gradually, a fragile, living community emerges among them – a shared rhythm that does not overpower the street, but transforms it for a moment.

The performance draws on the long-standing experience of Ana Monro Theatre in working with audiences and brings together approaches from physical theatre, neutral mask and voice research.

Ritual is an invitation to a subtle yet surprisingly powerful and open-ended event, during which the boundary between performers, spectators and the city slowly begins to shift. At the same time, it is an invitation to a unique experience at the intersection of performance, encounter and the shared pulse of public space.
