Simply Red

One of the most famous British bands of all time, Simply Red, fronted by the charismatic Mick Hucknall, are coming to Pula.

As part of their major European and UK tour “Summer Funk ’27”, Simply Red will perform on 24 July 2027 at the Pula Arena.

The Pula concert will be part of a special summer tour that will take Simply Red to selected historic sites, spectacular natural settings, arenas and other outstanding concert venues across Europe and the United Kingdom. Tour locations also include the renowned Anfiteatro agli Scavi in Pompeii, Piazza San Marco in Venice, Gunnersbury Park in London, The Piece Hall in Halifax and the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam.

The Pula Arena will once again take its place on the major European concert map, welcoming a band whose hits have defined generations.

A summer tour packed with hits

The “Summer Funk ’27” tour will feature an energetic live set in which Simply Red will perform their greatest hits, including “Fairground”, “Something Got Me Started” and “Money’s Too Tight (to Mention)”, alongside numerous other songs from more than four decades of their remarkable career.

The tour’s special appeal lies in the combination of music and the unique locations where the band will perform. The concerts are designed as major summer spectacles, offering audiences an experience that goes beyond that of a traditional concert venue.

In Pula, this concept will come to life in the setting of the ancient Arena, one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks and one of Europe’s most spectacular concert venues.

Mick Hucknall and Simply Red are embarking on the tour after celebrating 40 years of their career in 2025. Their anniversary tour included almost 50 sold-out arenas across the United Kingdom, Europe and Latin America.

More than 40 years of Simply Red

Simply Red were formed in the mid-1980s and, over more than four decades, have become one of Britain’s most successful bands, renowned for their distinctive blend of soul, funk, pop, jazz and R&B. Songs such as “Holding Back the Years”, “If You Don’t Know Me by Now”, “Stars”, “Fairground” and “Something Got Me Started” have become timeless hits.

Mick Hucknall’s unmistakable voice remains at the heart of the Simply Red sound, while the current line-up alongside him features Ian Kirkham, Kenji Suzuki, Kevin Robinson, Roman Roth, Gary Sanctuary and Orefo Orakwue.

Simply Red’s concert at the Pula Arena will be one of the highlights of their “Summer Funk ’27” tour, which will bring the band to a series of concerts across Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Croatia and the United Kingdom during June, July and August 2027.

Following Pula, the tour will continue with concerts in Italy, including Rome, Pompeii, Bari and Lucca.

On 24 July 2027, Pula will thus become one of the stops on Simply Red’s major European summer tour, celebrating music that has endured for more than 40 years.
