Three monuments by Zdenko Kolaci

The Society of Architects of Istria is opening the exhibition by Emil Jurcan, titled Three Monuments by Zdenko Kolacio, on Friday, 9 October at 8 p.m.

Architect Zdenko Kolacio (Sušak, 24 November 1912 – Zagreb, 18 May 1987) is recognised for his consistent body of monuments dedicated to the People’s Revolution, designed independently or in collaboration with various authors. The exhibition curator draws on his own many years of experience restoring three of Kolacio’s monuments, whose dates of construction provide a cross-section of the architect’s entire career.

These are the Monument with Ossuary to Vladimir Gortan in Beram, the Šubićevac Memorial Park in Šibenik, and the Memorial Ossuary and Monument to Partisan Hospital No. 7 at Javornica near Drežnica.

The exhibition features archival photographs by Nenad Gattin and Alexander Károlyi, new photographs by Ana Orlić, models by Nikola Brlek, currently in production, and architectural drawings of the three monuments.

The exhibition has been organised in collaboration with the Serbian Cultural Society Prosvjeta – Pula Branch.

The programme is supported by the City of Pula-Pola, the Istrian County – Regione Istriana, the Department of Culture and Territorial Affairs of the Istrian County – Assessorato alla cultura e territorialità, the Department for the Italian Autochthonous National Community, National Minorities and Youth of the Istrian County – Assessorato alla comunità nazionale italiana autoctona, alle minoranze nazionali e ai giovani, the Croatian Chamber of Architects, and the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia.

The work of DAI-SAI is supported by the Kultura Nova Foundation.

The exhibition can be visited on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
