Vrtni đir: Ljubomir Komlenić – Exhibition

This Wednesday, 23 September at 8 p.m., the programme Vrtni đir at Gradska radionica will host painter Ljubo Komlenić, who will present a selection of works from his longstanding artistic career.

The artist was born in Rijeka in 1954. He lives and works in Pula. He has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Croatia, Italy, Germany and Austria. The exhibition will be opened by art historian Mauro Bortoletto.

According to art critic Ondamarina Ilić, “the starting point of Ljubomir Komlenić’s work is the relationship between subject and object, a play between the human figure, the ‘solitary traveller’, bewildered in an alienated world of objects… The painter rearranges planes and multiplies viewpoints, disregards scale and invents spatial relationships, revealing a universe full of anxiety, but also of wondrous tranquillity.”

The activities of Gradska radionica are supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia and the City of Pula. Admission to all events is free.
