Art Exhibition: Savo Peković – "Metamorphoses - from the Mediterranean collection of paintings"

The solo exhibition "Metamorphoses - from the Mediterranean collection of paintings" by the renowned academic painter Savo Peković opens at SKUC Pula. Through radical abstract expressionism, the artist completely distances himself from classical landscape painting, constructing an inner feeling of the Mediterranean – the power of its light, heat, and contrasts, vividly reflected in the fierce brushstrokes and vibrant yellow-green background of the selected works. Peković's canvases are characterized by a process of metamorphosis; by denying traditional two-dimensionality, he integrates non-artistic materials into thick layers of pigments. These everyday objects lose their primary purpose and transform into the organic, relieved, and tactile body of the artwork itself.
