Saša Ceci: “12 Lessons We Failed to Learn”

“12 Lessons We Failed to Learn” is the title of a lecture that Dr. Saša Ceci will give on October 28, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the University Library in Pula. The lecture is part of the Green Library project and is organized by the Istrian Library Association and the University Library of the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula.

Each of us has things we consider absolutely true, scientifically proven, or at least morally unquestionable. Yet, despite our best intentions and relying on the knowledge we have gained through education and experience, we sometimes make the wrong decisions. Saša Ceci will talk about 12 such situations — lessons we could and should have learned before we needed them. When the consequences of our mistakes become real, and sometimes even tragic, they are harder to accept because they sound like accusations. The best outcome would have been to learn these lessons in time; the second best is to learn from our own mistakes; and the third-best time is right now — before we need them again.

Saša Ceci is a scientist, science communicator, and author of the Blesimetar series. He is known for his public engagement against pseudoscience and misinformation and for his efforts to make scientific knowledge accessible to a wider audience. His lectures combine scientific reasoning, social responsibility, and humor.
