Organizations

Društvo Smaregliana (Association Smaregliana) was established to promote musical culture by preserving the memory of the Istrian composer Antonio Smareglia, fostering awareness of his work, legacy, and contribution to cultural heritage.

The Association works to establish and develop synergies between institutional and non-institutional cultural stakeholders while encouraging citizen participation, thereby contributing to the preservation of the cultural identity of the City of Pula. As an initiator of ideas, coordinator, and active participant, the Association promotes interdisciplinarity, multiculturalism, collective memory, and cultural heritage.

Its activities include:

– Organising concerts featuring works by the Istrian composer Antonio Smareglia at the local, national, and international levels.

– Encouraging the integration of Smareglia's musical works into the tourism identity of the City of Pula and promoting cultural tourism.

– Organising national and international conferences, workshops, round-table discussions, and presentations dedicated to the composer and the period in which he lived and worked.

– Publishing new publications about the composer, as well as translations of new and existing editions.

– Researching, collecting, cataloguing, and preserving existing and newly discovered materials related to the composer.

– Advocating for the installation of a public monument to Antonio Smareglia in one of Pula's parks as part of the city's cultural and tourism identity.

– Cooperating with individuals, international institutions and organisations abroad, as well as with related Croatian and international associations.
