The Pula City Library and Reading Room is an independent public institution founded by the City of Pula-Pola. It serves as an information, cultural, and educational centre for Pula and the surrounding area.

The Library’s primary mission is to collect and preserve all types of library materials and information resources, provide their professional processing and lending, and organise activities that support personal development, promote reading, and foster all forms of literacy.

It is the largest public library in the County of Istria. Its network comprises the Central Library, the Veruda Library, the Children’s Library, the Pensioners’ Club Reading Room, the Vodnjan Library, the Žminj Library, and the Santorio Library Station.

The Library also performs the duties of the county’s central public library for public and school libraries and is home to the Central Library of Italians in the Republic of Croatia.
