The Museum of Contemporary Art of Istria / Museo d'Arte Contemporanea dell'Istria, established in 2008, is a county-level institution whose statutory mission encompasses museum and gallery activities with a regional scope. The Museum systematically collects, preserves, documents, researches, exhibits and interprets contemporary art. It monitors, supports, promotes and presents new forms of artistic expression through exhibitions in Croatia and abroad, as well as through a wide range of educational programmes.

The Annual Exhibition Programme represents the Museum’s most comprehensive and distinctive programme segment. Through exhibitions and accompanying events, it presents contemporary art and specific phenomena within the field of visual arts in regional, national and international contexts. At the same time, it encourages artistic production and fosters direct communication and dialogue with audiences and the wider community.

In terms of content, themes and modes of presentation, the Annual Exhibition Programme transcends the boundaries of place and time by focusing on significant artistic practices and notable artists. Consequently, while firmly rooted in the regional context, the programme has, through its concept and previous editions, demonstrated its relevance at the national level as well.

Alongside its active publishing activities, the Museum builds and maintains a collection of artworks created from the second half of the twentieth century to the present day, including the most recent artistic productions.
