The OKUD “Istra” Association is a non-profit cultural and artistic organisation founded on 15 February 1959. Through its activities, it brings together music enthusiasts of all ages, with a particular focus on young people. Through its various sections, the Association contributes to the promotion and affirmation of the cultural identity of the City of Pula, the County of Istria, and the Republic of Croatia both nationally and internationally. A special emphasis is placed on the promotion of the accordion, making the “Stanko Mihovilić” Accordion Orchestra the Association’s most prominent section.

In accordance with its Statute, the Association pursues its objectives through the following activities:

  • organising educational music courses, seminars, workshops, and other forms of individual and group instruction in line with the needs and interests of its members;
  • organising chamber and orchestral music performances;
  • presenting the artistic achievements of its members through public performances;
  • organising the International Accordionists’ Meeting and the International Summer Accordion Academy;
  • cooperating with other associations and organisations in the implementation of its objectives and activities.
