ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE

Hiroshima, My Love is a poetic stage production about love, memory, and the impossibility of expressing experiences that transcend the limits of human language. In a hotel room in Hiroshima, twelve years after the atomic bombing, a French woman and a Japanese man meet. Their brief love affair becomes a space in which suppressed memories, personal trauma, and collective history gradually unfold. The intimate encounter between two strangers evolves into a confrontation with the past, blurring the boundaries between a love story and historical catastrophe.

Marguerite Duras inscribes catastrophe into the intimate space shared by two people, into a relationship and a body that bear the traces of the past. Director Rajna Racz creates a poetic theatrical language in which the body remembers what words cannot express, exploring how love, touch, and intimacy can become the last remaining space of resistance against destruction. In a world marked by new wars, the production uses an intimate story to ask how we can live with the unimaginable and, despite everything, continue to love.
